Memory of Nations Institute - Brno

Since May 2023

Radnická 10, Brno, Czech Republic

The Institute of the Memory of the Nation is a modern multimedia exhibition dedicated to the history of the 20th century and the lives of people who personally experienced totalitarian regimes. The permanent exhibition guides visitors through the history of the 20th century in an engaging, emotionally resonant, and accessible way. It helps audiences better understand the complexities of the past, grasp its broader context, and cultivate critical thinking in relation to the present. Authentic stories from 1918 to 1989 offer multiple perspectives and deeper insights into key historical events.

Digital Guide
The exhibition experience is seamlessly connected and controlled via an interactive digital guide on a tablet, developed by 3dsense. This tool serves several functions: it acts as an audio guide and source of visual content, guides visitors along a predefined exhibition route, and serves as an augmented reality viewer that interacts with selected exhibits. The tablet also functions as a controller for launching multimedia content and activating specific elements of the installation.

The entire exhibition concept was developed in collaboration with the Post Bellum organization (the project’s initiator and owner), the Institute of Information Studies and Librarianship at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University, and the creative agency Monument Office.
