Memory of Nations Institute - Pardubice

Since March 2022

Machoňova pasáž, Pardubice, Czech Republic

The Institute of the Memory of the Nation is a modern multimedia exhibition dedicated to the history of the 20th century and the stories of people who personally lived through totalitarian regimes. The Memory of Nations Institute presents a modern multimedia exhibition devoted to 20th century history and the stories of people who personally lived through totalitarian regimes. The permanent exhibition guides visitors through 20th century history in an attractive, emotionally compelling and comprehensible manner, while aiding them to cultivate their ability to critically think about both the past and the present. Stories that span the period between 1918–1989 provide a range of perspectives on historical events, enriched with commentary and context.

The Digital Guide

The experience is connected and controlled with a tablet-based interactive digital guide developed in 3dsense. It serves multiple purposes. Firstly, it is an audio guide and a source of graphic information. Secondly,  it is a physical guide which leads you through the exhibition on a predefined route. Thirdly, it is an AR viewer, interacting with selected exhibits. Lastly, it works as a controller which makes the exhibits run and graphic content start.

The whole concept of the exhibition was created in cooperation with Post Bellum n.g.o., the initiator and owner of the project, Institute of Information Studies and Librarianship at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague and Monument Office Agency.
