Cube of the Memory of the Nation

8 May 2025

Václavské náměstí, Prague, Czech Republic

An audiovisual installation in the lower part of Wenceslas Square, commemorating 80 years since the end of World War II. The four-meter LED cube presented authentic testimonies of eyewitnesses and archival footage from the Memory of the Nation in an unconventional form, directly within the public space.

Projection surfaces on all four sides of the cube, combined with surround sound, allowed passers-by to experience the installation from multiple angles and let the story resonate throughout the square. Period footage, embedded in abstract animations, emerged from fog and noise as if surfacing from the depths of memory. The installation captured the fragility of remembrance, where some fragments remain vivid and clear, while others gradually fade into oblivion.
